Hello October!

Okay I don't know about you, but I'm loving the colors of the changing leaves and the crunching sound they make when I'm out for a walk or a run. I do have to admit though, I've never tried a Pumpkin Spice Latte. Are you a fan? I figure it's one of those things that you're either all in fanatically or not at all.

As we settle into this new season it's a great time to reflect on where you are currently in the different areas in your life and set some new goals for the last 3 months of this year.

As much as I'm not interested in rushing into the holiday season I do think it's the perfect time to plan for how you'll stay healthy for the holidays. It can be really easy to let things slide with your healthy habits and find yourself on New Year's Day wishing you had done things differently.

With some planning and determination now you could actually (gasp) make some progress with your habits this season! It all comes down to your mindset. I was just chatting with a client today about her lack of progress towards her goals. She knows what she needs to do to get healthier. She needs to commit to exercising regularly, avoid foods that cause her inflammation and weight gain, stay hydrated and make good sleep habits a priority. Pretty simple, right? After digging into why she was struggling she determined she just needs to get out of her own way. It really is that simple. I told her the great and challenging news is that we all have the power to choose our mindset, how we'll deal with things that are out of our control and the behaviors we choose day in and day out. So it's great news because it's up to us and it's challenging news because absolutely nobody else can do it for us.

I've been on a mission since New Year's Day of this year to really work on my mindset and it has been amazing. I continue to find new resources to help me on this journey because I believe in no finish lines when it comes to improving my health. Two of the latest resources that I've been loving have been a book by Rachel Hollis called 'Girl Wash Your Face' and Mel Robbins' 5 Second Rule. If you like to geek out on this stuff as much as I do I highly recommend you grab these books for yourself!

So back to staying on track for this season. Decide today that you are worth the effort, choose 1 or 2 habits you will create and make a plan for how you will make progress every single day. You can absolutely do it if you set your mind to it. I'd love to hear from you about what you're working on. I'm a pretty good cheerleader and would love to support you on your journey!
